This article is about the myths and misconceptions about the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, one of Canada's poorest neighbourhoods. The author tackles the ignorance ordinary Muslims have towards the plight of the homeless and the down trotten citizens of our world. He discusses the inherent biases of Liberalism that continues to fuel hatred towards this group of marginalized people.

We live in a society that prides itself on fast food, fast communication and fast travel. So, despite having all these time saving facilities – we’re always too busy and we don’t have time for others – and Allah (swt). We seem to be always in a rush, but where are we trying to get to? Has our fast lives made us forget the basics and the reason behind our existence?

The Canadian Islamic Cultural Expo is a yearly event created by the Islamic Information Centre (IIC)and Muslim Association of Canada (MAC). Its joint goals are to spread knowledge of Islam and promote unity within the BC Muslim Community. This year's event marked many firsts in the expansion and scope of the event.

Muslims today are quick to judge and label others. Unfortunately, it’s the practising Muslims that are looked down upon by their own community. With so many attacks being made on Islam and Muslims, must we also jump on the bandwagon and condemn those who are actually doing the right thing?
